A new opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse seeking full-time work in an educational setting. This position provides essential one-on-one care for a student with complex medical needs. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a school environment, adapting to changing situations, and collaborating with multidisciplinary staff to support the health and safety of the student.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois RN license, in good standing
- Previous experience as a school nurse or in pediatric settings preferred
- Proficiency in caring for students with advanced medical needs (G-tube, seizure disorders, VP shunt care, wheelchair assistance)
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to manage confidential student health information with professionalism and discretion
- Comfortable with non-verbal communication techniques
- Demonstrated reliability and dedication to student well-being
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, individualized nursing care to a student throughout the school day
- Monitor, administer, and document G-tube feedings, medication, and other required treatments
- Respond promptly and effectively to seizures or other medical emergencies
- Support personal care, mobility, and health-related needs in the classroom and during transitions
- Liaise with teachers, therapists, and family to advocate for the student’s health and educational goals
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date health records
- Follow all school, state, and district protocols for health and safety
