A contract opportunity is available for a dedicated Registered Nurse to serve in an elementary school health room for the upcoming academic year, from September 3, 2026, through June 23, 2027. This full-time role is Monday through Friday, working 32.5 hours per week. As the primary healthcare professional on site, you'll play a vital role in supporting student health and safety throughout the school day.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid NJ RN or CSN license required
- Prior school nursing experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Genesis charting system is ideal
- Comfortable working independently as the sole nurse in the building (advisory support available)
- Strong communication, organizational, and assessment skills
- Commitment to student wellness, confidentiality, and best practices in school health
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee routine and urgent health care for students and staff in the elementary health room
- Administer first aid and medication, manage chronic health conditions, and respond to emergencies
- Maintain thorough and timely health records; use the Genesis charting system to document student visits and ongoing care
- Track immunizations, manage health screenings, and support individualized healthcare plans
- Collaborate with school administration and district advisory team as needed for complex cases
- Serve as a health resource and advocate for students, families, and staff
