School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) - Washington, District of Columbia

Key Qualifications:

• Valid RN, LPN, or LVN license in the state
• Previous experience in school nursing, pediatric care, or student health services preferred
• Ability to respond effectively to minor injuries, emergent situations, and ongoing health concerns
• Strong communication skills for interacting with students, staff, and parents
• Capability to maintain detailed health records and handle confidential information responsibly
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications

Essential Responsibilities:

• Assess and address the health needs of students on a daily basis, managing both acute and chronic conditions
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to school protocols
• Collaborate with educators and school staff to develop health care plans, ensuring students can access learning with minimal disruption
• Serve as a resource for health education and wellness initiatives within the school community
• Monitor and document health status, providing referrals to outside healthcare providers when necessary
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute valuable health insights for student success
• Promote a safe and healthy environment by adhering to public health guidelines
