School Registered Nurse | Waukegan, Illinois

Make a meaningful impact as a contract Registered Nurse supporting the health and wellbeing of middle and elementary school students in a dynamic, educational setting near Waukegan, IL. This opportunity runs from January 6, 2027, through June 4, 2027, and focuses on providing care at a middle school campus with additional support to an elementary school as needed. You'll be a valuable part of a community serving approximately 1,000 students across two school facilities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Current RN license in Illinois (required)
• Active CPR and BLS certifications
• Previous school nursing experience or pediatric RN background preferred
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and organization skills
• Comfortable working independently and collaborating with school faculty
• Experience with adolescent and pre-adolescent populations is a plus

Responsibilities:

• Manage and administer daily care in the nurse’s office for middle school students (grades 6–8)
• Respond to health emergencies and provide first aid as needed
• Support the elementary school nurse office on occasion, as required by district needs
• Monitor and maintain student health records while ensuring confidentiality
• Coordinate with families, school counselors, and staff regarding health plans and chronic conditions
• Educate students and staff on preventive health strategies
