Qualifications and Experience:
- Current, unrestricted New York State LPN or RN license
- Experience in school nursing or similar pediatric environments preferred
- Competency in administering tube feedings, medications, and nebulizer treatments
- Comfortable working both 1:1 with medically fragile students and in classroom settings serving multiple students
- Ability to maintain accurate, up-to-date health records and documentation
- Strong communication skills for collaborative work with educators and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care as a 1:1 nurse for medically fragile students, including tube feeding and medication administration
- Serve as a program nurse in classrooms with multiple disabled students, performing medication administration, tube feeds, and nebulizer treatments
- Adhere to all standard protocols and safety procedures, ensuring student well-being throughout program hours
- Maintain clear, open communication with school staff and student families regarding student health and interventions
- Support a safe and nurturing environment for students with specialized medical needs
This contract role offers a summer schedule in a supportive educational environment. Opportunities are available both as a 1:1 nurse and as a program nurse supporting multiple students within special education programs in the Elmira area.
