Exciting opportunity for a compassionate and skilled RN to provide dedicated care for a student with a new tracheostomy! This contract role supports both Extended School Year (ESY) and New School Year (NSY) sessions, ensuring a seamless transition and continuous support.
In this role, you will work 1:1 with a student, delivering essential trach care and supporting a positive, safe school environment. Immediate availability for the ESY session starting July 6-August 14 is preferred, but September 8 start for the regular school year is also being considered. The student is placed in a collaborative educational setting, making your nursing expertise an integral part of their academic and personal success.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active RN license in New York State required
- Previous experience as a school nurse or in a pediatric setting highly valued
- Direct experience with tracheostomy care preferred
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in a school environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to professional, student-centered care
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support and trach care throughout the school day
- Collaborate with school staff, teachers, and families to ensure safety
- Monitor student’s health and respond to medical needs promptly
- Document care provided and maintain communication with healthcare providers
- Participate in school-based meetings as needed
