Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students’ health and wellness! A dedicated, compassionate Registered Nurse is needed to cover a maternity leave in a high school setting. This full-time contract position runs from October 26, 2026, through January 22, 2027, with the possibility of extending. The workday follows school hours, from 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM, serving high school students in a focused, supportive educational environment.

Qualifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois
  • Previous experience in a school nursing role (required)
  • Must be able to commit to the assignment and schedule
  • LPNs are not eligible for this position
  • Submission of a resume and current nursing certification/license is required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct professional nursing care, including first aid, illness, and emergency interventions, following best practices and school policy
  • Administer medications, ensure secure storage, and document thoroughly
  • Support the Certified School Nurse with student/staff wellness initiatives and district projects such as organizing health plans for allergies, asthma, and seizures
  • Collaborate to maintain the school health office and monitor AED devices; report maintenance concerns promptly
  • Maintain accurate student medical records, ensuring compliance with state mandates for immunizations, physical exams, and reported medical conditions
  • Act as a mandated reporter when assessing and referring suspected cases of student abuse or neglect
