School Nurse – 1:1 Medically Fragile Student Support - Williamsburg, VA area

We are seeking a School Nurse to provide 1:1 support for a medically fragile high school student during the 2026–2027 school year. This role will include supporting the student throughout the school day, as well as riding the bus with the student to and from school.
This position is ideal for an LPN or RN who is confident working independently, has experience with medically fragile students, and is comfortable managing student health needs outside of the main nurse’s office.
Requirements:
Candidates must be a licensed LPN or RN.
Experience with trach care and ventilator support is required.
Must be able to work independently from the main school nurse.
School-based or pediatric nursing experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct 1:1 nursing support for a medically fragile 11th grade student.
Monitor and support the student’s medical needs throughout the school day.
Provide trach and ventilator care as needed.
Ride the bus with the student to and from school.
Respond appropriately to medical needs, changes, or emergencies.
Maintain accurate documentation of care provided.
Communicate with school staff, families, and healthcare providers as appropriate.
Follow all care plans, safety protocols, and district nursing procedures.

The ideal candidate is calm, dependable, and clinically confident. They should be comfortable working independently, handling trach and vent care, and providing steady support for a student who needs consistent medical care throughout the day.
