School Registered Nurse | Willimantic, Connecticut

Make a real impact in the 2026/2027 school year by supporting a student as a 1:1 Registered Nurse in a school-based setting. This enriching contract role is based near Willimantic, CT, and begins in late August, wrapping up on June 11th. Prior to the start, you’ll have the chance to hold 2-3 introductory sessions in the student’s home to ensure you’re fully acquainted with their unique needs and routine.

You’ll be providing crucial daily care to a student with significant respiratory concerns, where suctioning is a key part of the support provided. Your skill and attentiveness will also be called upon for seizure monitoring, administering medication as necessary, and coordination of custodial care. Comfort with use of a hoyer lift and working collaboratively with paraeducator staff will be vital in maintaining the student’s well-being and dignity.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Current and unencumbered RN license
• Prior experience in school nursing or pediatric care, ideally in a 1:1 setting
• Strong skills in respiratory management, including suctioning techniques
• Confidence in seizure assessment, intervention, and medication administration
• Proficiency in using mobility equipment such as a hoyer lift
• Compassionate communication and collaboration skills

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide consistent, attentive clinical care for the assigned student during school hours
• Oversee respiratory interventions and respond to any acute health concerns, including seizures
• Administer prescribed medications as ordered
• Partner with paraprofessionals to perform custodial support and safe transfers
• Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of care
