This role involves working 1:1 with a medically fragile high school student, ensuring their care and safety throughout the school day—including riding the bus to and from school each day. Candidates with experience in tracheostomy and ventilator care will find this hands-on position both rewarding and essential.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) or Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Previous experience in a school environment highly valued
  • Proficiency in caring for medically fragile children and youth
  • Expertise in tracheostomy and ventilator support required
  • Comfortable working alone and providing independent medical oversight away from the main school nurse
  • Reliable and compassionate with strong communication skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct, individualized medical care for a high school student during the full school day
  • Ride the bus with the student to and from school, ensuring safety and monitoring medical needs
  • Manage daily documentation and communicate effectively with family and school staff
  • Administer medications, treatments, and maintain detailed records as needed
  • Remain vigilant and prepared to respond quickly to any health emergencies or changes
