Step into a vital role supporting the health and well-being of a middle school student as a contract LPN. This position offers an exciting blend of clinical care, school nursing, and one-on-one interaction, all within standard school hours. You will be essential in ensuring a safe and supportive environment during the academic year, from late August through early June, following a Monday-Friday, 7:30am to 3:30pm schedule. Bus riding duties are included, allowing for consistent companionship and care throughout the student's day.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current LPN or LVN license in good standing
- Previous experience working in school settings or with pediatric populations preferred
- Comfortable with 1:1 student care and familiarity with seizure protocols
- Ability to administer rescue medications (nasal spray format) confidently and promptly
- Competence with blood pressure monitoring and temperature checks
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with parents, school staff, and healthcare providers
- Professional, compassionate, and reliable
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide attentive 1:1 care to a middle school student with a history of absence seizures
- Monitor for seizure activity and administer rescue medication as needed
- Perform regular health checks, including blood pressure and temperature monitoring
- Document care and any incidents with accuracy and timeliness
- Accompany the student on the school bus, ensuring safety and continuity of care during transport
- Serve as a liaison between the school, family, and healthcare team regarding the student’s well-being
