School Psychologist in Charleston, SC

This contract position begins as soon as possible and runs through the full school year, offering a consistent schedule of 5 days a week at 40 hours per week. As a valued psychological support professional, you will manage a full caseload serving approximately 670 students in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments to evaluate students’ cognitive, emotional, and social functioning.
• Provide both individual and group counseling to address students’ mental health and behavioral needs.
• Team up with educators, parents, and administrators to support students facing academic or behavioral challenges.
• Design and implement evidence-based interventions for emotional and behavioral growth.
• Participate in IEP meetings, lending your expertise to the development and evaluation of student goals.
• Deliver crisis intervention and on-the-spot support to students in emotional distress.
• Educate faculty and families about mental health resources and strategies.
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes with strict attention to confidentiality.
• Engage in additional responsibilities as directed by school leadership.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Master’s or Doctoral degree in School Psychology.
• Valid South Carolina School Psychologist certification.
• Proven experience performing assessments and delivering counseling in K-8 school settings.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated understanding of child and adolescent mental health challenges.
• Candidates with direct K-8 experience will be especially well-regarded.
