Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a School Psychologist serving PreK-8th grade students in the surrounding areas of Chicago, IL during the 2026-2027 academic year. This full-time role runs from August 18th through June 4th, with potential extension due to emergency days. You will share a diverse caseload of approximately 180 students with a fellow psychologist, providing support, consultation, and assessment within elementary and middle school settings.
Ideal candidates bring a strong track record in school psychology, and this position requires candidates who are not recent graduates. Demonstrating expertise and confidence in working within the full PreK-8 age range is essential. Schedules are consistent, running either 8:00 am–4:00 pm or 7:30 am–3:30 pm, totaling 35 to 37 hours weekly.
Qualifications:
- Valid PEL (Professional Educator License) with school psychologist endorsement
- Meets all Illinois requirements for school psychologists
- Previous experience in a school or similar educational setting (not accepting new graduates)
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with students, staff, and families
- Experience supporting PreK-8th grade populations
Responsibilities:
- Provide psychological services including assessments, intervention, and counseling to students across PreK-8th grades
- Collaborate with educators, families, and school teams to develop and support student success plans
- Share management of a varied caseload alongside another school psychologist
- Support positive behavioral interventions and contribute to special education processes
- Maintain student records and ensure confidentiality
