Step into a meaningful role serving K-12 students by supporting their social, emotional, and academic success. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work onsite across multiple school buildings, contributing as a School Psychologist for the 2026-2027 academic year (8/17–6/11). Working 35 hours per week, you’ll carry a caseload of approximately 60 students, primarily supporting individuals experiencing mild to moderate disabilities within an urban educational environment.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current Michigan School Psychologist certification or Preliminary School Psychologist Certification required
  • Previous school psychology experience or relevant agency background strongly preferred
  • Ability to provide official university transcripts prior to district consideration
  • Familiarity with MARSE and IDEA regulations, as well as resources appropriate for urban student populations
  • Knowledge or experience with early identification and intervention practices welcomed
  • Commitment to equity and understanding unique challenges facing urban students and their families

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations, assessing cognitive, academic, adaptive, and social-emotional development to determine special education eligibility
  • Participate in the development and implementation of early intervention strategies for students with academic or behavioral concerns
  • Collaborate regularly with interdisciplinary support staff, teachers, and administrators
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices and regulatory changes
  • Clearly and compassionately communicate findings to parents and staff, aiding in effective educational planning
  • Help ensure consistent application of special education policies and procedures across assigned schools
  • Be open to learning from and addressing the needs and experiences of diverse urban student populations

This position is fully onsite and not open to virtual/remote arrangements. Experience in urban settings is highly valued, and candidates may be asked about resources for urban students and familiarity with special education regulations.
