Make an impact in the educational community in the Washington DC area by providing essential psychological support services in a dynamic school environment. This full-time contract opportunity is ideal for a dedicated School Psychologist motivated to collaborate across two campuses, with a focus on assessment, consultation, and behavioral intervention.
In this role, you will be a key resource for students and staff, primarily handling assessments, Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP). There may also be occasional support provided to social workers during counseling sessions, as well as involvement with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). Academic achievement testing is not required, thanks to the presence of educational diagnosticians at each site.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Hold an active VA Department of Education certification as a School Psychologist
- Maintain current VA Psychologist licensure
- Experience and comfort with school-based assessments and behavioral intervention planning
- Capacity to foster collaboration with educational professionals and support staff
- Must pass the VA Dept. of Social Services background check (to be initiated promptly)
- Completion of a TB test required
- Previous experience supporting FBA/BIP processes in schools preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and provide expert consultation for students in need
- Develop and support implementation of FBAs and BIPs
- Contribute to MTSS initiatives as needed
- Collaborate with educational teams to foster a supportive and positive school climate
- Work closely with social workers when behavioral counseling support is indicated
This role offers full-time hours (37.5 weekly), with a schedule from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM across two schools. You will have the opportunity to contribute meaningful support to diverse student populations in a vibrant area located just 45 minutes from Washington DC.
