Position Summary
An Intermediate School District serving the greater Flint/Lapeer, Michigan region is seeking a qualified Mental Health Specialist to support students during the 2025–2026 school year. This role focuses on delivering direct social-emotional services and strengthening supportive practices across classrooms and school buildings.
The position provides an opportunity to work closely with general education students while also supporting broader school-wide behavioral and mental health initiatives.

Core Responsibilities

Provide individual and small-group social-emotional support for general education students
Assist schools in implementing positive behavior programs and interventions
Partner with staff to enhance classroom support strategies and student engagement
Deliver professional input on mental health practices and student well-being
Collaborate with educators and support teams to address academic and behavioral needs
Contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment across buildings


Accepted Credentials
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree and one of the following valid Michigan credentials (LARA or MDE approved):

Licensed Master’s Level Psychologist (or Limited under supervision)
School Psychologist (MDE credentialed)
Licensed Master’s or Bachelor’s Social Worker (LMSW, LLMSW, or LBSW pathway)
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC / LLPC)
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
School Counselor License (SCL) or Michigan Teaching Certificate with School Counselor endorsement

Note: Some limited licenses require supervision or progression toward full licensure within 24 months.
