Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a school psychologist in a collaborative educational environment near Jersey City, NJ. This full-time contract position offers a consistent weekday schedule from 8:15 AM to 3:15 PM, working closely with a diverse elementary-aged population. You'll primarily focus on students in Pre-K through Grade 4 across four district buildings, with opportunities to touch a broader P-8 caseload.
As a valued team member, you will:
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Valid School Psychologist certification for New Jersey (NJDOE or NCSP credential preferred)
- Previous experience in a school setting or with children ages Pre-K through Grade 8
- Strong skills in assessment, counseling, and case management
- Familiarity with IEP development, special education processes, and federal/state education guidelines
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
- Capacity to travel between buildings as needed
Role Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of 40-50 students for comprehensive case management tasks
- Provide direct counseling services for 2-8 students, addressing emotional, social, and behavioral needs
- Conduct psychological assessments, write reports, and attend eligibility and IEP meetings
- Consult with teachers, families, and teams to support student success
- Develop and contribute to positive behavior intervention plans and multi-tiered supports
- Promote a safe and supportive school climate
