Exciting opportunity for an experienced School Psychologist to support students as a vital member of a dynamic educational team near Portsmouth, VA. This contract role provides a full-time schedule in a welcoming school setting where your expertise will be highly valued. Starting August 31, 2026, and continuing through June 15, 2027, you’ll collaborate with educators and families to help students succeed both academically and emotionally.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Virginia Department of Education (VA DOE) School Psychology licensure required
- Current Psychology license (Virginia) is essential
- Strong assessment, consultation, and counseling skills
- Compassionate and patient with excellent communication abilities
- Flexibility to adapt to changing caseloads and varying ages of students
- Previous school-based experience preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychological assessments to identify students’ learning, behavioral, and emotional needs
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement individualized education and intervention plans
- Deliver direct and consultative support services to students, working closely with multidisciplinary teams
- Provide crisis intervention, social-emotional learning initiatives, and preventive mental health programming
- Maintain precise, confidential records and comprehensive documentation
- Travel between assigned school sites as needed (assignments to be confirmed)
This contract offers a consistent full-time schedule of 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday. All services will be provided onsite—virtual or hybrid options are not available—allowing you to build strong, face-to-face relationships with students and staff.
