Your foundational skills as a specialist will be vital in evaluating students’ needs, crafting actionable plans, and collaborating closely with the Director of Special Education. You’ll be an invaluable resource within the district, performing thorough assessments, guiding parents, supporting teachers, and providing direct services to students.
Desired Background:
- Master’s degree (M.A., M.S., or M.Ed. in School Psychology or related field)
- Certification as School Psychologist (or in process of obtaining)
- At least three years of experience serving the full age range of school-age children preferred
- Strong counseling, diagnostic, and evaluative capabilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychological and psycho-educational evaluations for referred students
- Present findings and recommendations to parents and staff
- Observe students in classroom settings and perform other relevant assessments
- Participate in CSE, CPSE, and 504 committee processes as needed
- Offer crisis intervention, short-term counseling, and consultation during student emergencies
- Review and interpret outside evaluations, offering expert perspective
- Serve as a go-to resource for district employees regarding student diagnoses and educational strategies
- Oversee confidentiality protocols and foster a positive collaborative work environment
