This contract position offers an opportunity to provide school psychology services through telehealth in a diverse and dynamic educational setting located in Bear, DE. The district encompasses a large range of schools, including one preschool, eight elementary schools, three middle schools, one large high school, and a specialized institution serving students with medical, intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbances, and alternate achievement diploma programs. Services extend across a continuum of special education placements.
Responsibilities include conducting assessments, providing teletherapy, supporting special education plans, and collaborating closely with school staff to enhance student outcomes. The role emphasizes flexibility, allowing for focused assignments such as testing-heavy tasks at the elementary level. Participation in professional development days is encouraged, with compensation provided for those days.
Key aspects of this role include:
- Delivering telehealth and teletherapy school psychology services
- Managing caseloads primarily at one site, with occasional splitting between elementary schools to accommodate service needs
- Collaborating with special education coordinators and a team of school psychologists (up to four at the high school level, and 1-1.5 for elementary)
- Navigating licensure requirements with support from Human Resources for those licensed outside Delaware, including license pending candidates
The interview process is adaptable and candidate-centered, consisting of a meet-and-greet style session. Decision-making involvement includes the director of special education services. The contract runs from ASAP through June 10th, aligning with the school calendar and professional development schedules. A standard full-time commitment of 37.5 hours per week is expected.
