Step into a pivotal role supporting students’ academic, emotional, and behavioral growth by serving as a contract School Psychologist with a district near Waukegan, IL. This full-time opportunity runs from August 26, 2026, through June 11, 2027, spanning elementary, middle, and high school populations. You'll play a key part in guiding families and school teams through the evaluation process, while fostering student success.
Your work may center on conducting re-evaluation reviews, eligibility meetings, functional behavioral assessments, and some initial evaluations. There are two primary openings:
- Early Childhood (0.6 FTE, 3 days/week): Focus on screening and evaluating students transitioning from early intervention, serving children ages 3 to 5. Travel is required across three local preschools. Strong communication with families, general education partners, and special education teams is essential, particularly for those new to the special education process.
- Grades K-4 (1.0 FTE, 5 days/week): Evaluate students, lead and participate in MTSS and IEP processes, support problem-solving, and facilitate IEP and re-evaluation meetings.
Qualifications:
- Active Illinois School Psychologist license
- Experience with early childhood, elementary, and/or secondary populations
- Solid knowledge of special education law and evaluation best practices
- Outstanding communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to travel locally (for early childhood role)
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations
- Guide and participate in IEP and eligibility meetings
- Serve as a resource to staff and families, supporting effective communication
- Support MTSS problem-solving and data review teams
- Complete documentation and follow state/local guidelines
