As a Student Assistance Counselor, you’ll support students’ emotional, social, and academic needs, fostering a positive school climate. Collaborate with educators, families, and outside agencies, helping students navigate challenges and thrive both in and out of the classroom.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid School Psychologist certification or relevant state licensure
- Proven background working as a School Psychologist or Student Assistance Counselor at the secondary level
- Experience with crisis intervention, counseling, and case management within a school setting
- Excellent communication, advocacy, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, students, and families
- Familiarity with developing individualized support plans and delivering student-centered services
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments, individual and group counseling, and crisis intervention services
- Implement programs that promote positive behavior, mental health, and student well-being
- Serve as a liaison between students, families, and community resources
- Assist in the development and monitoring of student support plans tailored to individual needs
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams to address student concerns and develop strategies for academic and personal success
- Provide staff development and consultation as needed
