Make a meaningful impact as a contracted Art Therapist working within school communities in the Clarksburg, MD area. This rewarding opportunity spans the upcoming academic year, running from August 19th through June 4th, and offers a unique chance to support students as they explore self-expression, manage emotions, and navigate the school environment through therapeutic art practices.
You’ll work part-time across various sites in the district, engaging directly with a select caseload of 15 students. Your expertise can help spark growth and provide creative coping tools for students with diverse backgrounds. The role is onsite only, with a flexible daytime schedule of 20 hours per week (8 am to 4 pm).
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Professional state licensure as required by the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists
- Background in art therapy or clinical mental health services within a school or similar educational setting
- Strong understanding of therapeutic techniques tailored for youth and adolescents
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to liaise with educational teams, parents, and students
- Knowledge of best practices related to confidentiality and documentation
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group art therapy sessions to referred students throughout the district
- Develop and implement therapeutic plans based on student needs and individualized education programs (IEPs) when applicable
- Maintain accurate records and communicate student progress to school staff and families
- Partner with school personnel to foster a supportive environment for emotional growth and resilience
- Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings as needed
