Bring your creativity and compassion to a meaningful role supporting students as a School Art Therapist in the vibrant Frederick County area. This contract opportunity invites you to inspire and engage students across various district sites through therapeutic art interventions, helping them grow emotionally, socially, and academically.
This part-time position, scheduled from August 19th through June 4th, offers a consistent 20-hour workweek between 8am and 4pm. Working onsite, you will have the rewarding chance to provide specialized art therapy services to a caseload of approximately 15 students, using your expertise to foster a positive school environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver individual and group art therapy sessions to support students’ emotional and behavioral well-being
- Collaborate closely with teachers, counselors, and other school staff to create supportive strategies for student success
- Document progress and maintain up-to-date student records in compliance with district and state standards
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute therapeutic perspectives to educational plans
- Develop art-based programming that fosters social-emotional learning and coping skills
What We’re Looking For:
- State Licensure through the MD Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists (required)
- Experience as a school therapist or in a school-based art therapy setting
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively partner with multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with K-12 student populations and ability to adapt approaches to varying needs
- Passion for using the arts as a vehicle for emotional and personal growth
