Step into a rewarding role making a real difference as an Art Therapist in the heart of Frederick, MD. This is a contract opportunity for the upcoming school year, serving a diverse group of students across multiple sites within the district. In this part-time, onsite position, you’ll work directly with a caseload of 15 students, guiding them through creative expression and growth from August 19th to June 4th.

Key qualifications and experience desired:

  • Current Maryland state licensure through the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists
  • Demonstrated experience as a school therapist or art therapist, preferably in an educational setting
  • Strong understanding of therapeutic art interventions for youth
  • Ability to collaborate with educators, administrators, and families
  • Exceptional communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach

In this role, you will:

  • Provide individualized and group art therapy sessions to students to support their emotional, behavioral, and academic growth
  • Collaborate with teachers, aides, and school mental health professionals to develop and implement student-centered therapeutic strategies
  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes in compliance with school and district procedures
  • Participate in staff meetings and parent conferences as necessary
  • Adapt therapy modalities to best meet the needs of each student on your caseload
