School Therapist in Frederick, MD

Step into a vital role supporting students' emotional and creative growth as an Art Therapist across various school sites in Frederick County. This part-time, contract position is tailored for professionals passionate about making a tangible impact through therapeutic art-based interventions within an educational setting.

Your focus will be guiding a caseload of 15 students from August 19th through June 4th, collaborating alongside school teams and families. As an onsite provider, your creativity and expertise will help students develop self-expression, coping strategies, and confidence, all within the supportive environment of local schools.

Qualifications & Experience:

• State Licensure through the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists is required
• Professional background as an Art Therapist or School Therapist
• Experience working with children or adolescents, ideally within school or clinical environments
• Strong skills in communication, collaboration, and documentation
• Ability to tailor interventions to a diverse range of emotional and developmental needs

Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and small group art therapy sessions to a designated caseload
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, educators, and families to create supportive plans
• Maintain accurate and timely session records and treatment documentation
• Assess student progress and adjust approaches based on individual needs
• Participate in meetings, workshops, and staff trainings as requested
• Foster a safe, welcoming space for student creative exploration and emotional growth
