An exciting contract opportunity awaits for a certified Music Therapist seeking a dynamic role in an educational setting near Katy, TX. This itinerant position allows you to guide students through transformative music therapy services across multiple campuses, working both individually and in group settings. Starting in August, the assignment is part-time at 20 hours weekly, with possible expansion to 30+ hours as the program grows. Flexible scheduling enables you to tailor your workdays, making it ideal for professionals balancing varied commitments.
In this vital role, you’ll:
- Deliver music therapy services to students, supporting IEP goals and ensuring campus compliance
- Serve a diverse caseload of children and adolescents with disabilities, adapting strategies and materials to individual needs
- Design, construct, and provide adaptive equipment and devices to foster student achievement
- Assess student progress, participate in ARD Committees, and develop ongoing program evaluations
- Consult proactively with teachers, administrators, and families to maximize the benefits of music therapy
- Offer staff development to enhance the understanding and effective integration of music therapy into school programs
- Maintain comprehensive reports, records, and adhere to campus, district, state, and federal policies
- Participate in relevant professional development to continually enhance your skills
- Foster a supportive, engaging, and disciplined learning environment
- Contribute to program management and materials selection
Desired qualifications and experience:
- National Certification as a Music Therapist (MT-BC)
- Prior experience in school-based or pediatric therapy settings preferred
- Knowledge of strategies and interventions for students with autism and developmental disabilities
- Exceptional skills in communication, organization, and adaptability
- Ability to design and implement individualized and group interventions
- Fingerprint clearance (or eligibility for expedited processing)
- Strong collaboration and consultative approach with education professionals and families
