This itinerant, part-time position (15-20 hours/week) gives you the flexibility to design your weekly schedule, enabling an appealing work-life balance within the academic calendar from August to May.
Desired Qualifications:
- National Certification in Music Therapy (required)
- Previous experience as a School or Art Therapist preferred
- Deep understanding of music therapy strategies, equipment, and assessment procedures
- Familiarity with IEP compliance and documentation for students with disabilities, including autism and developmental challenges
- Strong skills in organization, communication, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to provide professional development to school staff regarding music therapy programs
- Must meet fingerprinting and district credentialing requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver music therapy to individuals and small groups, ensuring alignment with students’ IEP goals and district policies
- Assess, evaluate, and document student progress and program effectiveness
- Participate in ARD and collaborate with educators, administrators, and families to create and implement student-centered interventions
- Support classroom staff, contribute to staff development, and consult with parents to maximize program benefits
- Select adaptive music equipment and materials for student achievement
- Maintain accurate records, comply with local and federal requirements, and engage in ongoing professional development
- Foster a safe, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate environment for students
