Desired Experience and Skills:

• Current certification or licensure as a Recreational Therapist
• Prior experience providing therapeutic services within school or pediatric settings preferred
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families
• Strong understanding of therapeutic recreation methods to foster emotional, social, and physical development
• Ability to develop and adapt engaging activities based on student needs and IEPs
• Compassion, creativity, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion in all activities

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement individualized and group recreational therapy sessions for students, addressing goals outlined in IEPs or behavioral intervention plans
• Collaborate closely with school counselors, teachers, and other therapists to create supportive learning environments
• Conduct assessments to determine students’ functional capabilities and develop personalized therapy goals
• Document progress, maintain records, and communicate with families and school professionals to ensure continuity of care
• Assist with integration into classroom and extracurricular activities, providing strategies for participation and social interaction
• Foster positive self-esteem, coping skills, and independence in students of various abilities
