School Therapist | Polvadera, New Mexico

A full-time contract opportunity is available for an experienced Recreational Therapist to support a school district near Polvadera, NM. This position is designed to address compensatory minutes and manage the existing therapy caseload throughout the remainder of the school year. Working primarily with elementary students, you’ll collaborate closely with a dedicated support team and have the option to provide services via teletherapy. The district welcomes out-of-state licensed therapists, and you may begin work while your PED credential is pending.

Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

• Certification as a Recreational Therapist, with eligibility or current license; out-of-state licenses considered
• Experience working in school settings, ideally at the elementary level
• Understanding of compensatory education requirements and IEP processes
• Ability to manage a diverse caseload efficiently
• Comfort with teletherapy platforms and remote service delivery
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Organized, flexible, and ready to adapt quickly to evolving needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct recreational therapy services to elementary-age students, both in-person and remotely
• Implement activities and interventions aligned with students’ IEP goals
• Deliver compensatory sessions and document progress accurately
• Collaborate with special education staff, teachers, and families to identify goals and strategies
• Maintain all required records and comply with district, state, and federal guidelines
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student progress monitoring
