Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated fluency
- Experience interpreting in school settings or with children/adolescents
- Current nationally recognized interpreter certification (such as RID or equivalent) preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, service providers, and families
- Professional, adaptable, and comfortable managing varied classroom dynamics
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities, ensuring equitable access for Deaf and hard of hearing students
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers in both academic and extracurricular settings
- Support student participation and engagement in school functions, assemblies, and outings
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards at all times
- Adapt to individual student needs and grade levels, from elementary to high school
- Assist with preparation and modification of educational materials as needed
