An opportunity is available for a full-time Educational ASL (American Sign Language) Interpreter to support an elementary student in a 1:1 capacity. This contract position is located in Annapolis, MD, and spans the 2026-2027 school year, from August 24th through May. The role requires 37.5 hours per week, providing essential communication access within an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one sign language interpreting services to an elementary student transitioning into the district
- Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, and peers
- Adapt interpreting methods to meet the student’s unique needs and educational goals
- Collaborate with educational staff to support an inclusive learning environment
Qualifications and Experience:
- EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 4.0 or above, or RID/NIC certification is required
- Candidates in the process of obtaining either certification are encouraged to apply
- Prior experience working in educational settings, specifically with 1:1 interpreting services, is preferred
- Strong knowledge of American Sign Language and Deaf culture
