Step into a rewarding contract opportunity near Annapolis, MD, supporting high school students as a full-time Sign Language Interpreter. This assignment spans the academic calendar, beginning as soon as possible and extending through June 18, 2027. You'll provide vital 1:1 support for 7 hours each school day (35 hours weekly), directly contributing to student access and engagement in an educational setting.

Ideal qualifications include:

  • A qualifying score of at least 75% on the EIPA written exam, with either a minimum 4.0 EIPA performance score or active NIC or RID certification.
  • Demonstrated recent experience interpreting in 1:1 and/or small group educational settings.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with two or more years of recent interpreting experience in schools.

In this position, you will:

  • Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities for assigned student(s).
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to ensure effective communication.
  • Adapt interpreting styles to accommodate different learning environments and student needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while fostering a supportive, inclusive atmosphere.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training, as needed.
