We're seeking a skilled professional to serve as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) for a contract opportunity supporting students and staff in a school environment near Arlington Heights, IL. Responsibilities:

  • Provide real-time sign language interpreting services in educational settings, facilitating clear communication between students, teachers, and other school personnel.
  • Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, assemblies, meetings, and other school activities as needed.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive environment, promoting the full participation of deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure appropriate accommodations and to optimize student learning experiences.
  • Remain flexible and respond to dynamic classroom needs, adjusting interpreting strategies as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) preferred, with relevant state registrations or credentials as required.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong grasp of both spoken and written English.
  • Experience providing interpreting services in educational or school settings highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to supporting diverse learners.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interpreting situations.
