Qualifications & Experience

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with the ability to interpret in educational settings
• Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in schools
• Understanding of Deaf culture and the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals
• National or state certification (RID, EIPA, or equivalent) strongly preferred
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, teachers, and support staff
• Professionalism, reliability, and adaptability

Key Responsibilities

• Provide sign language interpretation for classroom instruction and school activities
• Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers
• Adapt interpreting techniques to suit age, educational content, and varied learning environments
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards for educational interpreters
• Collaborate with educators and other professionals to support student success and accessibility
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to accommodation planning when necessary
