Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience interpreting in educational settings preferred
- Ability to facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and staff
- Knowledge of Deaf culture and sensitivity to the needs of Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals
- Relevant certification or licensure for sign language interpreting (state credentials, EIPA, or RID certification a plus)
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time ASL interpretation for students in classroom and school activities
- Support teachers by translating lessons and instructions
- Assist with parent-teacher conferences and school meetings as needed
- Adapt to a variety of academic subjects and age groups, from elementary to high school
- Collaborate with educational teams to promote accessible learning environments
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries in line with school and state guidelines
