Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficient in ASL with strong interpreting skills
  • Prior experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings preferred
  • Ability to facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and school personnel
  • Familiarity with the unique needs of middle school students encouraged
  • Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and adaptability in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to collaborate with other educational professionals and support staff

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate interpreting services for an 8th-grade student during classroom instruction and school activities
  • Ensure clear communication between the student, teachers, and peers for all academic subjects and school events
  • Support the student’s integration and participation in class discussions, group work, and extracurricular activities
  • Follow student-specific modifications and Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals as directed by school staff
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpreting practice
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions relevant to the student’s support plan
