This full-time contract opportunity allows you to contribute your expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) while building meaningful connections within the educational community.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficient in ASL with strong interpreting skills
- Prior experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings preferred
- Ability to facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and school personnel
- Familiarity with the unique needs of middle school students encouraged
- Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and adaptability in fast-paced environments
- Ability to collaborate with other educational professionals and support staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate interpreting services for an 8th-grade student during classroom instruction and school activities
- Ensure clear communication between the student, teachers, and peers for all academic subjects and school events
- Support the student’s integration and participation in class discussions, group work, and extracurricular activities
- Follow student-specific modifications and Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals as directed by school staff
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpreting practice
- Participate in meetings and training sessions relevant to the student’s support plan
