Key Candidate Qualifications:

  • Hold current EIPA 4.0 or higher, or RID certification
  • Prior experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational or youth settings
  • Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with professional interpreting skills
  • High level of professionalism, dependability, and discretion
  • Compassion and patience supporting diverse learning needs
  • Ability to adapt to various classroom activities and changes in student routine

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 interpreting services for a student who is Deaf or hard of hearing throughout the school day
  • Facilitate communication during classroom instruction, group projects, school events, and extra-curricular activities
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to optimize the student’s educational experience
  • Ensure accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation at all times
  • Help foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings when needed
