Bring your expertise in sign language interpretation to an impactful role supporting students across a variety of educational settings. This contract position places you onsite at multiple schools, working with both special education and general education students with needs ranging from mild to severe. As an itinerant interpreter, you’ll experience a dynamic work environment, providing critical communication access to facilitate learning and social interaction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Key Qualifications:
- Holds a current CDE Authorization as an educational sign language interpreter (required for assignment approval)
- Earned a passing score of 3.5 or higher on the EIPA assessment
- Demonstrated proficiency interpreting within K-12 educational settings (SPED and Gen Ed)
- Ability to adapt to various classroom environments and student needs
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills to work with diverse educational teams
- Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver sign language interpretation for students in both special and general education classrooms
- Support effective communication and understanding between students, staff, and peers
- Travel between multiple school sites as required by this itinerant, full-time, full-school-year role
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with educational teams to address student needs
