Opportunities include:
- Full-time roles (35 hours/week, 7 hours/day) in both elementary and middle schools.
- Part-time opening (20 hours/week, 4 hours/day) in a dynamic high school setting.
- All positions are within accessible travel distance in the greater region.
Desired Qualifications:
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher with Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) certification; or EIPA 3.0+ with specific IBSE approval.
- Proven experience interpreting in educational or youth-focused settings.
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language with the ability to tailor communication to a diverse student population.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating tact, patience, and understanding.
- Flexibility and professionalism in adapting to various school environments and student needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and timely sign language interpretation between students, staff, and peers during classroom instruction, assemblies, and school activities.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to facilitate successful inclusion and learning for D/HH students.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate high ethical standards in all interactions.
- Stay current with best practices in educational interpreting and participate in ongoing professional development as required.
