Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
  • Experience interpreting in educational settings preferred
  • Ability to facilitate clear communication between students, peers, and instructional staff
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Relevant certification or licensure, depending on state requirements
  • Adaptability and enthusiasm for working with students of diverse backgrounds

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language into sign language for students in classroom and school-based activities
  • Provide accurate and impartial interpretation for students, teachers, and staff
  • Foster an inclusive learning environment by supporting students’ academic and social participation
  • Participate in meetings and school events as needed, ensuring access to information for all
  • Collaborate regularly with educators, special education teams, and families
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all professional and ethical standards
