Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Ballston Spa, New York

Looking for a rewarding opportunity to support elementary students as a Sign Language Interpreter? A contract position is available for a dedicated interpreter to work 32 hours a week for the full school year, assisting a student in grades K-5. This position is located near Ballston Spa, NY, and will run until the school year ends on June 25, 2027.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting is strongly preferred
• EIPA score of 3.5 or higher recommended
• Ability to adapt communication styles based on individual student needs
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
• Professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to the full school year

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide in-classroom interpretation for an elementary student with hearing impairment
• Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers
• Support classroom participation and encourage student engagement
• Collaborate with educators, support staff, and families as needed
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines for educational interpreters
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to the student’s success
