This contract role offers a consistent daytime schedule from 7:40am to 3:30pm, totaling 37.5 hours per week. You'll play a key role in fostering communication, inclusion, and independence for a student who is deaf or hard of hearing, working closely with educational staff in a supportive environment near Baraboo, WI.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience providing sign language interpreting services in an educational or school setting is preferred
- National certification or state licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter strongly preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and staff
- Professionalism, reliability, and a genuine passion for supporting youth
- Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and student privacy
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary Sign Language Interpreter for a middle school child during classroom instruction and school activities
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between the student, peers, and school staff
- Adapt interpreting services to match the pace and content of classroom teaching
- Assist with ensuring classroom materials and activities are accessible
- Maintain appropriate documentation as required by the school or district
- Participate in IEP meetings or other student support sessions as necessary
