A Travel Sign Language Interpreter position is available, offering the opportunity to provide essential communication support within school settings. This role requires skilled interpretation services for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students, facilitating their full participation in educational activities.
Responsibilities include:
- Accurately interpreting spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, school events, and meetings
- Collaborating with teachers, counselors, and support staff to ensure effective communication access
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
- Attending trainings and staying current with best practices in sign language interpretation
- Traveling between school locations as assigned to provide services
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language with certification or equivalent credentials preferred
- Experience interpreting in educational environments strongly favored
- Ability to travel as needed and adapt to varying school schedules
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
