Help empower high school students by facilitating communication and inclusivity in educational settings. Two part-time opportunities are available for skilled Sign Language Interpreters in nearby locations, each supporting high school students and contributing to their academic success.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid 3.5 EIPA and ISBE certification, or 3.0+ EIPA with IBSE approval
• Previous experience interpreting in K-12 or high school environments preferred
• Ability to interpret in mainstream classroom settings
• Professionalism, reliability, and adaptability
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with educators and staff
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and respecting student privacy

Role Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpretation for assigned high school student(s) during regular school hours
• Support full access to curriculum, activities, and social interactions in mainstream classes
• Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa to facilitate clear communication
• Collaborate with teachers and school teams to adapt to evolving needs
• Uphold ethical standards as outlined by educational and interpreting guidelines
• Document relevant notes and participate in team meetings as needed

Available Openings:

• Part-time, .35 FTE position (12:30–3:00pm, Monday–Friday, working with one student through the end of the school year)
• Part-time, .5 FTE position (11:00am–3:00pm, Monday–Friday, supporting a student in mainstream classes until late May)
