Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Bixby, OK

Step into a rewarding contract role as a Sign Language Interpreter for a high school setting, providing essential support to students for the upcoming school year. Help foster an inclusive classroom environment by facilitating effective communication between Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff. This full-time position offers 35 hours per week, with a start date in August 2026, located near Bixby, OK.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience as a sign language interpreter in educational settings, preferably at the high school level
• Possession of nationally recognized interpreter credentials (such as EIPA, RID, or BEI certification)
• Strong grasp of educational terminology and high school curriculum
• Ability to interpret in a variety of settings including classroom instruction, assemblies, and extracurricular activities
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Professionalism, reliability, and adaptability in a school environment

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide interpretation services for students, facilitating clear communication between students, teachers, and staff
• Support Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing students during classroom instruction, discussions, exams, and school activities
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to ensure access to educational content
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all interpreting assignments
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as needed
• Adapt interpretations to match the needs and abilities of individual students
