As the sole interpreter for the new school year (NSY), you will facilitate meaningful classroom engagement, helping students thrive academically and socially. Key Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings
  • Relevant interpreter certification or teacher credentials in ASL preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with students, staff, and families
  • Understanding of the needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional standards

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear, accurate sign language interpretation for students and staff during classroom instruction and school activities
  • Promote inclusive education by ensuring students' access to curricula, discussions, and campus events
  • Work closely with teachers and related service providers to adapt communication for individual student needs
  • Assist in developing and modifying instructional materials as needed
  • Support students’ self-advocacy and communication skills
  • Maintain up-to-date records and adhere to district policies and protocols
