Qualifications and preferred experience:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in schools or educational settings
- Experience teaching or facilitating ASL instruction is highly valued
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster trust and engagement
- Certification or licensure for educational interpreting (as applicable)
- Collaborative approach to supporting students and working with school staff
- Reliability and a passion for making a positive difference in students’ daily lives
Role responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language and classroom content into ASL for students
- Ensure clear, accurate, and confidential communication between students, teachers, and peers
- Provide support during classroom activities, meetings, and school events
- Contribute expertise in ASL instruction as needed
- Adapt interpreting techniques to meet individual student requirements
