Sign Language Interpreter in Bluffton, SC

You'll provide expertise across several locations, including Beaufort, Bluffton, and Hilton Head Island, contributing to a rich educational experience for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

• Minimum EIPA score of 3.5
• State or national certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
• Experience working in K-12 educational settings preferred
• Strong understanding of Deaf culture and the educational needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing students
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families

Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, activities, and discussions between students, teachers, and staff
• Facilitate effective communication in a variety of educational situations, meetings, and events
• Support students’ understanding and participation in academic and extracurricular activities
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards
• Adapt interpretation techniques to fit student needs and curriculum requirements
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as needed
