Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, especially in school environments
- Ability to effectively work with young children, particularly those with Autism or other communication needs
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation between the student, peers, and school staff during all academic and classroom activities
- Adapt interpreting techniques to the needs of a young learner with Autism
- Facilitate clear and meaningful communication, helping to ensure inclusion and engagement
- Support the student’s social and academic growth in a nurturing, respectful manner
- Partner with educators and specialists to help create an accessible learning environment
