Make a difference each day by supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing as a contract Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant school setting. Your expertise will ensure that educational content is fully accessible and engaging. This full-time, in-person opportunity is located near Bolingbrook, IL, and offers a meaningful 1:1 experience with a student, starting as soon as possible.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL); certification or endorsement as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) required
  • Previous experience providing sign language interpretation in a school setting preferred
  • Strong communication skills, patience, and flexibility
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, staff, and families
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding ethical standards

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver accurate, confidential interpretation between spoken English and ASL throughout the school day
  • Facilitate communication for a student in various classroom settings, complying with Individualized Education Program (IEP) requirements
  • Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to support instructional goals and student engagement
  • Assist with adapting materials or instruction to optimize comprehension for the assigned student
  • Maintain accurate records and document services as needed
  • Uphold professional conduct and promote a supportive learning environment
