This contract opportunity is for a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to work on-site within an elementary school setting, supporting students both one-on-one and in group environments throughout the academic year.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter credentials with a 3.0 EIPA score or above.
- Experience in educational settings, particularly working with elementary-aged DHH students, is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture, best practices in interpreting, and IEP support.
- Completion of background check and fingerprinting according to district and state regulations (with the possibility of using previously completed fingerprints through AHCA Clearinghouse).
- Ability to collaborate professionally with students, teachers, and school staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services for DHH students during instructional and school-related activities.
- Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and peers in classroom and educational settings.
- Work with IEP teams to support students’ academic and social development.
- Maintain confidentiality and impartiality when serving students in a public school environment.
- Adapt communication modes and strategies to match individual student needs.
