Qualifications & Experience:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a comprehensive understanding of interpreter ethics
- Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter within educational or similar environments
- Ability to provide clear, age-appropriate interpretation for students, teachers, and staff
- Familiarity with IEP processes and educational terminology is a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Certification or licensure as required by state regulations
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into ASL (and vice versa), ensuring accurate and effective communication
- Support student engagement in classroom activities, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular events
- Maintain confidentiality and impartiality at all times
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to identify and adapt to students' needs
